Jim is the youngest of five children born to Carl and Hazel Seiberling. He attended Maranatha Open Bible
Church until his family began attending Bethel Open Bible Church when he was in the seventh grade. Jim
became a Christian at an early age while at youth church summer camp.
He and his siblings were raised with “drug problems”. They were drug to church every Sunday
and also were drug to Blackwood Brothers Quartet concerts just about any/every time they appeared at the
KRNT Theater or Hoyt Sherman Auditorium in Des Moines. As you might guess, Jim was fascinated by the bass
singer.
Jim is thankful that his parents adhered to God’s directive in Proverbs 22:6 which says “Train
up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it,” since the
aforementioned “drug problem” had a profound impact on his life.
Jim is a 1977 graduate of East High School in Des Moines, where he met a young lady who would eventually
become (and still is) his lovely wife. Jim is very thankful for the support his family has provided with
regard to his HHQ activities. A lot of time and energy is devoted to the group.
When not involved in HHQ activities, Jim enjoys spending time with family as well as hunting
(especially with bow and arrow), fishing, bicycling, traveling, and camping.
Over the years Jim has sung the bass part with numerous groups — The Blackwood Brothers, Stamps
Quartet, Bill Gaither Trio, Lanny Wolfe Trio, Cathedrals, Legacy Five, Signature Sound, Oak Ridge Boys,
Statler Brothers, etc.. Of course, since none of the other members of any of these groups were ever in the
car and/or shower with Jim as he was singing along with their LPs, 8-tracks, cassettes or cds, it is rather
unlikely that any of them would know his name if ever they heard it!
In the past, Jim also sang on stage at the Reiman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee -- as did everyone else in
the group of tourists he was with that day.
Actually, due to a severe case of stage fright, Jim would rarely sing in public. However, Jim eventually
began to feel God calling/leading him to form a quartet to spread His word through song. Although he still
gets nervous, and doesn’t say much while on stage, Jim has learned to trust God to provide the
strength to do His will.
The rest, as they say, is history.
